Copy of Tips on Navigating High Point Market

It's that special time of year! So many of us in the design realm is gearing up for High Point Market 2021. Oh, how I wish I could be there!

High Point Market will be held on June 5-9, 2021. Whether you are a first-time attendee or a veteran designer who has been to High Point many times, I wish you a safe and happy market week:

Map Out Your Day

High Point Market showcases thousands of vendors, with exhibits spread across multiple streets. In sheer size alone, it can be overwhelming.

There's no way to truly "see it all" in a day. Make a realistic plan for yourself. Each day, plan for 3 key vendor areas you want to be sure to experience. With those as anchors for your schedule, anything else you get to do and see can be considered a bonus!

Network Like a Boss

This event is not only great for taking in new design trends and product lines - but it can also be a wonderful way to network with other designers. You may feel tired once the end of the day is near, but challenge yourself to attend one of the many networking happy hour events to meet and chat with like-minded designers.

Get Social

Utilize social media before you leave, while you are there, and after the event to connect with others who will be attending. In other words, stay active in the market conversation online pre-, during, and post-event. Connect with others using the hashtag #HPMKT. Following this hashtag will keep you aware of "must-see" exhibits.

Order Up!

The market is a fantastic time to get your upcoming orders into the vendors you are looking to buy from. Many vendors offer special show pricing, so I take the opportunity to make any orders I need in the months to come. I always make sure to get orders from some of my favorite vendors, such as Four Hands Furniture, Arteriors, and Universal Furniture.

Budget Tip

One small tip -- you can save money on car rentals and parking fees. High Point Market has a shuttle that runs on the hour to and from the airport and to all the major hotels in the area.

The market has published this digital Designer's Preview Guide you will find helpful. If you're attending, I would love to hear who your favorite exhibitors were and about your market highlights. Connect with me here on Instagram.

North Carolina weather is certainly beautiful this time of year, and with the market taking extra measures to be safe and socially distanced, it promises to be a great event. Enjoy, and I will see you at High Point next spring! In the meantime, if you have design needs for your home, contact me at kelly@kellymarieinteriordesign.com.
