Tips on Transforming Your Home for Springtime

Tips on Transforming Your Home for Springtime

You do not have to renovate or overhaul a space completely to freshen up your home for the new season. We want to share some simple interior design tweaks that you can do to make your home feel infused with the spirit of Springtime.

1. Update Those Pillows!

Start by swapping out your year-round pillows for ones that remind you of Spring (and no, I am not talking about Easter-themed pillows), more so pillows that express colors associated with Spring. Consider using muted shades such as greens, pinks, creams, and blues which all correlate with the new season. Layer them with a neutral base to keep your design simple. Always remember less is more!

Above are some colors we chose for Spring 2021 that mimic the beautiful Springtime elements. A green resembles fresh grass, pink for new blossoms, and white/blue for those cloudy skies. Of course, we tone the shades down to help create a moody yet inviting palette.

2. Light and Bright Window Treatments

Inexpensive, sheer, or light window treatments are another great way to decorate for Spring. Replacing your heavy or dark existing treatments with light and airy drapes will allow more natural light into your home, and depending on the sheerness of them, they even may offer an opportunity to see the new foliage and first Spring flowers from inside your home. The best fabrics we recommend are linens, cotton, and sheers to make your spaces feel more spacious and attractive, creating a Spring mood like nothing else.

For example, as you can see in this Delray Beach Interior Design Project, we revamped this Master Bedroom to feel light and bright by using soft materials and layering with color and texture.

3. Incorporate a Scent That Reflects Spring

If you read our blog about Designing with Wellness in Mind, you know I love using essential oils in my home and at the office to help create a calm environment. I typically gravitate towards scents that are soft yet sweet, like grapefruit or lavender. Grapefruit is a tangy citrus scent that is sweet and believed to have cleansing properties perfect for Spring cleaning. Lavender is a classic fresh floral aroma that promotes a sense of calm and is a great way to set the tone for a new season.

4. Don't Forget Fresh Flowers

Since Spring is the season of rebirth, there is no better way to appreciate new life than incorporating fresh flowers. Specifically flowers that are just becoming available due to the season. Tulips, Peonies, and Hydrangeas are some of my favorite flowers to include in my Interior Design projects and personal home, bringing life into our designs.

Pick a flower of choice or a combination of a few favorites and place them in a beautiful vase or basket.

Spring adds new life and new beauty to all that is. Similar to Interior Design we strive to add new life into your home through many techniques that make each and every design unique and special.
